Therefore, we have taken a closer look at what trends experts point to will dominate digital learning in the coming years. It will be a decade that will place significant demands on the learning that is provided.

The essential concepts in the coming years will be to design unique learning paths for users. The learning needs to hit users exactly where they are. Right now. It has to match their level and based on what they know. And then it should also be available at precisely the time the user needs it. And it must be an individual experience that takes place in collaboration with others. Sounds easy, right?

To meet all of these ambitions, we need to think of new technology at a very early stage in the construction of digital learning. We simply need AI, MR, and mobile learning to succeed in creating satisfied users.

Mobile learning

Mobile learning is no longer just apps, but instead, it is all about connectivity and convenience. The users tend to expect that any learning experience will contain mobile-friendly content, multidevice syncing, and anywhere/anytime access. Technologies such as Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR) can be used to make learning more active and collaborative. Almost 4 out of 5 American students use their smartphone as a means of learning.

To produce the best learning paths for the user, we need to continue the improvement of data-analyzing. That is the key to securing the best learning for the users and will be an essential component in the years to come. It can deeply enrich user experiences and ensure successful learning.

Where the online and the offline worlds meet, we encounter the phenomenon called Mixed Reality (MR). It offers an immersive experience and allows digital and physical objects to coexist and interact with each other.
There is no doubt that learning goals that can be effectively met using MR. Especially activities such as clinical skills or other skills where the training contains a large amount of repetition can benefit from the use of MR.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is one of the biggest buzzwords in the tech world and has been that the last couple of years. The technology where computers simulate human-like behaviour makes machines able to act like humans would have done, and it poses a significant potential within learning and problem-solving. It can help facilitate and improve our complex practices of collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data.
AI can be successfully used in adaptive learning, where algorithms can customize content to the predicted needs of individual students.

But AI can also be used when evaluating the learning program performance.
